Mid-Hudson Civic Center Inc. Welcomes World and Olympic Figure Skater Gilberto Viadana as the New Skating Director!

Mid-Hudson Civic Center Inc. (March 2018) – We are so excited to share with everyone that starting March 19, 2018, Gilberto Viadana will become a part of the Mid-Hudson Civic Center Inc. family as the new Skating Director.

Born and raised in Milano, Italy, Gilberto became a three-time Italian National Champion and competed multiple times in the Junior World Championships, European and World Senior Championships, in addition to the 1992 and 1998 Winter Olympic Games.
After his competitive career, he started coaching in Milano and his choice proved a wise one. His students reached the National Championships in the Novice, Junior and Senior levels, as well as the European and World Championships and the Olympic Games in 2002. In 2004, he was contacted by the Olympic Regional Developmental Authority with the offer to be a part of the local coaching staff in Lake Placid, New York. The collaboration went so well, he then became the Director of the Olympic Center Skating School, a program dedicated to skaters at the competitive level.

Gilberto will be implementing many new initiatives and programs at MHCC Inc. that will make the organization stronger. MHCC Inc. has a long history of figure skating, but there has never been a director that has the resume of an Olympic and World competitor and coach. We are thrilled to bring Gilberto into our family and be able to provide this level of talent and skill to the skaters in our community. Being an Olympic year and with January and February being National Skating Month, we have seen a large jump in enrollment. Our long term goal is to make MHCC Inc. the place to send your child to learn the fundamentals of skating, for pure enjoyment, recreation or to become a decorated competitive athlete, and also to just fall in love with the sport.

MHCC Inc. President, Danielle Anderson states, “Gilberto Viadana is the exact addition to MHCC Inc. we have been searching for over the past year. His extensive background in figure skating aligns with our mission to make positive changes in our communities surrounding our arenas. With his passion and knowledge of the sport, I’m looking forward to see how far our programs will progress and see how far our athletes will go with his expert guidance!”.

Their music remains anchored in the late 1970s and 1980s. But the tunes are timeless and the musical hooks remain embedded across generations.

This is the band with the name that speaks to outsiders everywhere, far beyond those living on the fringe, courtesy of rock ‘n’ roll. This, ladies and gentleman, is the rock band Foreigner.
